Program Details: Remember the first time you saw a kaleidoscope? Wow, this is cool, how does it work, somewhat fascinated by it. The slightest move makes it change – just like changes in our lives. One slight move can have a large impact on our lives and of the lives of our families. The process for change is similar to a Kaleidoscope – we look through the same lens and all see something different. The lens we look in is the beginning, the picture is the ending; however the transition happens in the barrel. This session will assist us in understanding how transition affects our lives and our attitudes toward change. 6:30 PM Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate? Presenter: Phyllis Zalenski is a family resource management specialist with Iowa State University Extension. Program Details: Through wills and estate planning, many individuals address the transfer of the family business or farm, a home, stocks, bonds and other monetary assets. But how do you decide who will get family jewelry, dishes, furniture, and other special items? Decisions about transferring personal property are frequently ignored until a crisis occurs or immediate decisions are necessary. “Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?” focuses on tips to begin the process of talking among family members, understanding the various issues involved with dividing personal property, and thinking about different distribution options and their consequences. Worksheets to start the process will be provided. FREE
