International Expansion: New International Chapter in Peru This May, Peru became ACC’s 36th International Chapter, under the leadership of Jaime Espinoza, MD, FACC, and thanks in part to the efforts of the president of the Peruvian Society of Cardiology, Jose Manuel Sosa, MD, FACC. Espinoza considers this partnership a great opportunity to increase the exchange of science and knowledge between the Peruvian cardiologists and the ACC and to improve cardiovascular care in Peru. “We are committed to increasing awareness and efficiency in addressing the cardiovascular health challenges our country is facing, such as hypertension,” says Espinoza. “The Peruvian Society of Cardiology and our new ACC Peru Chapter will work together to find solutions to better address cardiovascular issues in our countries,” he adds. ACC's First Regional Conferences in Latin America and the Middle East This October, the ACC is hosting two novel international conferences aimed at reaching cardiovascular professionals in both Latin America and the Middle East. The ACC Latin America Conference and the ACC Middle East Conference will be the first-ever regional conferences in partnership with ACC International Chapters. The conferences will feature locally relevant and interactive education designed to best meet the needs of practicing cardiologists in the region.
