Alexandria Bay , NEW YORK Spend days exploring the possibilities of “The Bay.” With its many attractions, restaurants and lodging, you’ll fi nd plenty to do, day and night. Alexandria Bay has hundreds of rooms available in a variety of lodging styles. From full-service luxury resorts and friendly local motels to quaint bed and breakfasts and cottages right on the water, spending the night is easy and convenient. Boaters are welcome to dock at “The Bay” to enjoy the shops, pubs, nightclubs, restaurants and lodging. Municipal docks are at both ends of the village. There are many exciting ways to tour the 1000 Islands using Alexandria Bay as a starting point. For a bird’s eye view, climb aboard a hot air balloon or go by water on board Uncle Sam Boat Tours, a great way to explore the islands and their attractions, including the world-famous Boldt Castle on Heart Island, Singer Castle on Dark Island and the islands of Millionaire’s Row. The young and young-at-heart can indulge in mini-golf, batting cages, go-karts and Mazeland – the largest hedgerow maze in New York State. See and touch exotic underwater species at Aqua Zoo. Water activities include boat rentals, guided fi shing charters and a public swimming area. On land near Alexandria Bay you’ll also fi nd municipal golf courses, tennis courts and eight state parks. Alexandria Bay’s event schedule is always jam-packed. Friends and families are transformed into buccaneers and scalawags during Bill Johnston’s Pirate Days in August. Polish the chrome on that Harley and join the Thousand Islands River Run Motorcycle Rally in June.
