EMS Interventions For Field Providers : Page 3

No matter the quality of your care, your system’s attention to detail, something…SOMETHING needs to be improved. Do it. Find a solution and submit it. Researched, foot noted, formatted, sealed and delivered. If you don’t know how, learn how. The time is now, tomorrow is too late. The longer we wait to see if the third round of band aid fixes to a broken system will work, the longer my patients will have to suffer and that just isn’t acceptable. There is something you can do today to make your EMS system better and that means that tomorrow you’ll have just one less thing to worry about. Hate the syringes you use? Find better ones cheaper. Backboards the craps? Hit the trade shows and get a sample to take home and try out. Monitors not good enough? Invite a vendor to demo the latest and greatest. Heck, invite 2 and let them fight it out. In the end, your patients win. When the idea of “EMS 2.0” came to me sitting in front of a computer early in the morning I wasn’t looking for shinier ambulances, new uniforms or a gadget to make my life easier, I was looking for a solution to a problem practitioners the world over face on a daily basis: “Why can’t I give my patients what they need?” That simple thought needs to burrow into your mind and set up shop because only when that question is no longer asked have we arrived as care givers and not just a ride to another opinion. Stop waiting for someone to make your system better and just do it yourself. What are you waiting for? An invitation? Fine. I invite you to do better. No, I dare you to do better. The Producer of Interventions... THADDEUS SETLA As a Paramedic and Cinematographer I want nothing more than to impact my community with the passion I have. I am not looking to change the world, just the first responder community and those who are impacted by the work we do! Most people ask, "What do you do exactly?" Well, I am in video production and social media. My experience has been in working as a DP, Producer, Editor to create Original WebTV Series, TV Pilots, Commercials, Educational programs, Promo videos, and Documentaries. Thaddeus is the driving force behind the Chronicles of EMS and the First Responders Network. His vision of community, not just a website, is what continues to inspire this magazine, our blogs and our drive to share our ideas with the world, not just our friends. If EMS 2.0 had a Godfather, he would be it.
