Smith Announces Candidacy For State Representative Dist. 19 My name is Andrew P. Smith and I am formally announcing my candidacy for State Representative, District 19. Yes, they are back and the food is great. Stop by and tell Joe and his family that the Neighbor to Neighbor newspaper sent ya. I am 49 years old and have resided in Florida most of my life. I am married to the love of my life, Faith, and have a wonderful son named Andrew who is 14 years old, and attends Lake Butler Middle School, and another son named Mitchell, who is a graduate of Bradford County High School. I graduated High School in 1980 and immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where I served until being honorably discharged. I have received Associate Degrees in Education and Criminology, and a Bachelors Degree from the University of North Florida. I have worked my entire life even while attending college and I am currently a Major with the Florida Department of Corrections where I have been employed for over 23 years. I have received recognition on the local, state and national level for my work in correctional operations and management. I have also served as a commissioner for the Union County Housing Authority, the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council, and the Eighth Judicial Nominating Commission. I believe I can bring new ideas, new energy and new leadership as your State Representative by reconnecting the priorities of our citizens with county and state government. I will respectfully listen to the needs of our citizens and work hard to keep more of their hard earned money in their pocket. I vow that, if elected, I will represent and communicate with all the citizens of the district, regardless of party affiliation and regardless of whether I think they will vote for me in the future or not. Its not about me, its about you, the citizens of this district and the tax payers of this state. If you would like to learn more about me please go to www.electapsmith.com.
