AN OVERVIEW OF WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OUR AREA SCHOOLS SCHOOL SCEnE Keeth Elementary PTA hosts Fall Festival Keeth Elementary’s PTA Fall Festival gathered staff, families and teachers for a night of fun and fund-raising which included food, games, face painting, and kids crafts. One of the popular booths at the festival the “pie the principal” booth where students were given the opportu- nity to pie Principal peter Gaffney. The highlight of the event was the themed basket raffles. More than 80 bas- kets of donated items ranging from were assembled by parents, room parents, teachers, PTA members, and local busi- nesses on display in the cafeteria. The event raised nearly $7,000. Winter Springs High School Hunny- bear dance team and director rebekah Krausman, attended the Universal Dance Association (UDA) Camp at the Univer- sity of Central Florida. The six-member team was selected for the highest recognition as UDA All-Americans. UDA presents the All-American award to a se- lect group of high school girls who have displayed outstanding talent in all major aspects of dance. LUKE’S LUTHERAN SCHOOL GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, St. Luke’s volleyball teams hosted a Dig Pink event in conjunction with the Side- November/December 2009 Out Foundation. In addition to playing in matches throughout the day, the girls helped with a bake sale and selling pink promotional items. The teammates made a presentation to the spectators to promote breast cancer awareness, and recognized survivors and those lost to breast cancer through 48 their remembrance wall. They raised $1,625 to benefit cancer research and every player took home a pink volleyball for participating. The coaches and staff of St. Luke’s Lutheran School applaud the efforts of these athletes in setting an example to younger students and the community.
