BCMC Show Soared to New Heights in Phoenix PHOENIX, AZ—The 2009 Building Component Manufacturers Conference (BCMC), the place to build community and make connections in the structural building components industry, took place here at the Phoenix Convention Center on September 30 - October 2. This marked the shows return to Phoenix for the first time since 2003. The show opened with an appearance from NFL star Tom Flick. “The com- passion Tom showed for those in our industry was striking. I was impressed with how he related his life experiences and turned them into motivational oppor- tunities for our lives,” said Jesse Lohse, Rocky Mountain Truss Co. In addition to 78 exhibitors, including seven first-timers, the show offered nine educational sessions presented by com- ponent manufacturers and professional speakers and a strategic business planning session for component manufacturers. “Bash Tradition: Bust Out-of-the-Box” by Ken Cloyd, California Truss Company and Barry Dixon, True House, Inc. was one of the most popular educational ses- sions. “Their presentations were very de- tailed. I was impressed with how openly they shared their ideas,” said Rob Morris, Allensville Planing Mill. “They were also very good at encouraging an informative group discussion.” Economist Stan Duobinis delivered his forecast to a room of attendees eager to hear what 2010 has in store. Duobinis predicted that the recession is finally over, yet unemployment will continue to lag through next year.
