The truth is more than 5,000 black soldiers fought in the American Revolution. And, although most were not recognized as citizens or even free men, more than 200,000 took up arms in the Civil War. More than 380,000 African Americans served in WWI and more than 2 million defended this country in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Yet, accounts of their valiant actions are absent from most history books and contemporary films. 6:00 p.m. Room 3103 Art Gallery Exhibition Opening Presenter: Michael A. Sánchez, Historian/Research Experience Discover ground-breaking information just recently revealed about the contributions of African Americans in the development of the atomic bomb.
