Old Dog. At Guardog™ we are proud of our age. Over 36 years ago we invented the 2-piece universal skateguard. Since then we have been providing the highest quality, most colourful, most innovative blade protection in the world. More than 250 dog years and counting! New Tricks! They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. If that’s true, we are very flattered. There have been many imitations over the years, but no equals. We’ve always been #1 and we want to continue to be the leader in blade protection. With that as our goal, we started with our original ground breaking design and took it to new heights. We’ve “tricked” it up with the following NEW features and innovations. ™ THE NATUR-ROLL™ SYSTEM -A natural walking motion on all skate blades Hockey Blade -Large curve. Figure Blade – Medium Curve. Speed Blade – Small Curve At the core of the Natur-roll™ system is the patent pending design of continual V-notches and V-shaped depressions on the side of the skateguard. Although aesthetically unique and pleasing, it is the physical attributes of these design features that combine to give the skateguard great flexibility. With this enhanced flexibility, it can conform to a wide variation of blade rockers. There is no pre-determined rocker with this skateguard. It is self rockering. Conforming to the blade shape allows for the most natural walking motion. Thus, the Natur-Roll™. To further enhance the Natur-roll™ system we studied the wear pattern of a multitude of skateguards worn for long periods of time by Olympic, world champion, and professional skaters. These skateguards, found in our archives from the 90’s, showed the exact same contour worn into the skateguard at the heel and toe. The pattern was the same on shorter vs longer skateguards, skateguards used by male skaters as opposed to female skaters, etc. The skateguard was worn down from it’s original shape to a specific curvature by a constant natural walking motion. Armed with this knowledge, we copied that contour, so that the new TOP NOTCH ™ skateguard would be “worn in” to the proper shape on day one. BUILT IN CUTTING GUIDELINES – FOR ACCURATE, SQUARE CUTS These notches and aligned V-shapes create an accurate and square cutting guideline. Aligning your cutting instrument across 2 v-notches keeps the cut square in that direction, (see figure 1) while cutting through the points of all of the V’s on the side of the skateguard (see figure 2) keeps the cut square in the other direction.
